Running For Music
24 September 2009

Jason Morton is currently a Senior Music Education major at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. On Sunday, November 29, 2009, Jason Morton will be running in the Amica Seattle Marathon in Seattle, Washington. As a part of this marathon, Jason will not only be running for fun, but he will also be running to help raise money for Music to Heal.
Jason’s interest in long distance running began in August of 2007, after losing 45 lbs. in college. Since then, he has been running on a regular basis, averaging about 30-40 miles per week, and competing in races throughout the year. Jason ran his first 5K (Reindeer Dash for Cash, Greenville, NC) in December 2007, followed by his first half-marathon (Sony Ericsson City of Oaks, Raleigh, NC) in November 2008, where he finished in 1:38:56 and placed 176 out of 2,470.
From now until November 29th, Jason will be collecting pledges from friends, faculty, family, and other individuals to help benefit the organizational programming, projects, and operations of Music to Heal. If you are interested in making a pledge, donation, or assisting Jason in this effort, please feel free to contact him at

As for what Jason has to look forward to until Seattle, this can be summed up in two words…more training. However, on Sunday, October 11, 2009, he will be competing in his second half-marathon, the Run for the Booty Half-Marathon in Greenville, NC. As for when it comes to the day of the race in Seattle, Jason aspires to complete the marathon in 3.5 hours, but more importantly, since it is his first marathon, he says he is just hoping to make it to the finish line!
